Ted The Fiddler
Welcome

This is the new and hopefully improved Ted The Fiddler Web Site!

I hope you’ll look around and see what else is here under these buttons. Try the Music Player down on your left. It plays a couple of my old recordings.

Ted sits in...

Looks like I'll be making a guest appearance at Chaplin's with Jack Murray and the Midnight Creeps this coming Sept 10th. Jack puts on a great show and we go way back to the 1970's when we had a band called The Golden Rocket. I hope to see some of you out there.

Night School & Old Movies!

Looks like I will once again be hosting a 4 week course for the Chester Co Night School system featuring old movies from my 16mm collection. This was a fun project we did in the spring and it seemed to go over pretty well. I'll show clips and short subjects and maybe even a feature film from the golden era of Hollywood and beyond. I've been collecting all sorts of things for over 20 years now and finally some one else is interested in seeing them and allowing me to share my accumulated knowledge. I was beginning to think I had filled my brain with too much totally useless stuff, but here's a chance to share some of it.

Bill Roth and I have also formed a new chapter of the Sons of the Desert. Our last meeting was at Molly McGuire's in Phoenixville, Pa and that seemed to also go very well with plans for the future. That's the Laurel & Hardy Fan Club. That's also generally 16mm presentations but we also have another 35mm show planned at the Colonial Theatre. I think that will be in November. We'll keep you posted...

Schuylkill Canal Fall Music Festival

Dave Weber and I just got booked for the Schuylkill Canal Fall Music Festival Sep 25th. It's not on their web site yet, but it promises to be a big event with many more local musicians. It should be a fun time out at St Mike's Field along the Canal in Port Providence/Mont Clare, PA just over the bridge from Phoenixville, Pa

Film Preservation

I've got old movies on the brain and the Music that goes with them. I just got back from Capitol Fest in Rome, NY. One of two film festivals of old movies I attend. Both of these, Cinefest in Syracuse and Capitol Fest in Rome feature very rare early sound and silent era films of all sorts, plus the people who work to preserve and present our motion picture heritage. I've been attending these two Festivals for many years now and I'm getting to know most of the regulars and it's still trilling to me to realize I'm in a room full of the Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroes of film preservation. You can't get any closer to the world of film preservation than that in my opinion. These folks are right there and generous with their time and knowledge and we get to see some of their finest preservation work and often their newest projects and even some half completed projects. I love old movies almost more than Music and at some point I need to create a couple pages here dedicated to my film collecting. I've recently started hosting a Course through the Chester County Night School system. Look for me in their next fall Catalog. I show old films from my collection and talk about and answer questions about the films and history. I use 16mm Projectors too. The true consumer and industrial grade High Definition system of the last 100 years.

Summer and so?

I haven't written much because I'm devoting most of my time to trying to clear all the junk I've acquired out of the house and into the trash or the hands of people who might want some of it. I've had the good, or bad according to my wife Tokoyo, Fortune of meeting some really interesting older men with similar interests who give me stuff. Now I'm waiting for my young man to arrive and tell him to bring a truck! It took me 30 plus years to collect all this stuff, it's taking almost as long to sort through and get rid of it. Or at the very least, downsize and consolidate. I'll keep you posted.

Day of Rest

Resting today... Glad I don't have to go to my Aunt Salley's today. Will see them all tomorrow. Today is the Fiddler's day of rest. I guess I should try to do Thank You's today though. One day in a Million I'm not too busy.

I should put the living room back together again too. I can't get into the Foyer or the Closet until I do. The Movie and TV carts are in there blocking the way.

It's so nice to hear the big stereo system without the TV cabnet in the way and walk through the dinning room arch without the huge Movie Projector cart. My wife seems especially happy about that too, but I have four cans of 16mm I got at Zern's last week and I'd like to look at them. Decisions, decisions...
